You know what really grinds my gears? The responses I get when I tell people I write about hip-hop. Most folks make a bling or gangsta reference and move on, and that sucks. Please, people—let's finally realize this movement transcends cultural boundaries and recognize what these kids want to do: help.
When it comes down to it, real hip-hop is about social consciousness, intelligence and significant artwork. Our own local real hip-hoppers want to help the less fortunate, and they've organized this event as an opportunity to do so.
Last Emperor will spit his shit, and Maylay Sparks has made a special trip from Switzerland to jump in here, along with Puerto Rican hip-hop duo Outerspace.
