In the “What Are We Looking For?” section of the Mr. Gay Philadelphia page on www.nightlifegay.com, the sponsors go out of their way to insist they’re seeking a “nonstereotypical gay man” to represent Philadelphia in the U.S. Mr. Gay competition.
In order to prove just how serious they are about avoiding gay stereotypes, contest organizers tapped Reichen Lehmkuhl to host the event. You remember Lehmkuhl—he was the totally ripped, totally gay guy from Amazing Race.
Oh, bad example.
Well, Frank DeCaro’s on the judging panel. You know, the “gay correspondent” on The Daily Show.
Hmm.
Well, Will Wikle’s also a judge. He was the overtly gay man on Big Brother 5—but now he hosts his own show … on the Logo network. (Joshua Valocchi)
