Fronted by none other than Maxx—he of the Goats and Incognegro fame—Black Landlord are the newest addition to Philly’s burgeoning funkified rap scene.

Lacing politically provocative rhymes over wah-wah guitar and Texas funk horns, Black Landlord stir up a soulful stew that tastes like Liquid Soul with a Roots chaser.

Connie’s Ric Rac is already staking its claim as hipster HQ, and this show promises to fortify that status.
