We freaking rule. Not only is Philadelphia home to NerdCon, we’re also Geek City, U.S.A.

Every species of bespectacled, mumbling, mildly autistic virgin in Christendom is flocking to Philly this week to offer themselves as sacrificial valedictorian lambs to the gawking jock gods in Geek Fight!

It’s a benefit gig for Philly comedy troupe Tribe of Fools, and promises to be a Phillytastic evening of contrived pop-culture frivolity to rival Game Showy and the Drunken Spelling Bee.

After a performance of Heavy Metal Dance Fag—“a play about a sexually confused South Philly tough guy and the day he shows his best friend his passion for dancing”—this egghead extravaganza pulls out all the anal-retentive stops with geek trivia, geek fashion (pocket protectors not optional) and a “Safety Dance” by Men Without Hats dance-off.

There’s also fun for geekettes and transgeeks in the Danish-headed shape of a Princess Leia beauty contest judged by alien geek uberlord Jabba the Hutt himself.

In true geek fashion there’s even a secret password good for a few bucks off at the door.

But while the final battle for ultimate geekdom—involving oiled-up oddballs sumo-wrestling for supremacy—will surely elicit some guffaws, the funniest thing about this event is the discounted ticket rate for, get this, couples.

Geekster, please! (Joshua Valocchi)
