Much to frontman Jason Gleason’s chagrin, it’s damn near impossible to discuss ActionReaction without raising the spectre of Dashboard Confessional.
For the uninitiated, Gleason took over vocal duties in Further Seems Forever after Chris Carrabba left to form Dashboard. When Gleason followed suit, ditching FSF to start ActionReaction with former members of Element 101, he managed to avoid the sappy pitfalls that devoured Dashboard and established Carrabba as the poster boy for the bedwetting emo set.
In fact, ActionReaction bear minimal resemblance to the emo-core sound often blamed on FSF, instead offering up an amalgam of poppy melodies more akin to Rogue Wave.
