The Kind Café hasn't even officially opened its Northern Liberties location, yet already the organic food market/restaurant has become a major player in NoLibs' rich cultural scene.
Coming off the success of last Saturday's Northern Liberties Music Festival 3.0, which featured several local acts, including what may have been the Photon Band's final show, the Kind Café is joining forces with the Fire and Whole Foods to sponsor another blowout this Sunday.
The Livin' Well Healing Arts Food and Music Festival will showcase local music acts such as Townhall, Marah, Sola and Amos Lee on alternating stages, along with vegan food offerings, therapeutic massages and Reiki exercises.
The aim of the event is to educate the masses on the benefits of organic diet and holistic healing, but that shouldn't make anyone feel bad about showing up with a cheesesteak and a six pack.
When it comes down to it, it's really all about fun and continuing to build a sense of community. You're not going to find a better lineup of bands at any free show, and if you want to feel like you're making some kind of contribution, save one of those beers to wash down a plate of vegan chili from the Kind's "Chuckwagon" lunch truck.
